According to the Good Food Institute, the sales of animal-free foods grew three times faster than overall food sales in 2021. Research shows that Gen Zers specifically view going vegan as a way to promote compassion toward animals, address the climate catastrophe, lower their carbon footprint, and promote sustainability. UNE does a great job at accommodating vegan eaters and continues to improve and expand options. There is a vegan option available daily at every meal period, non-dairy milk is always offered and vegan foods are labeled clearly. UNE Biddeford has a grain bar in it’s dining hall that offers various delicious vegan and vegetarian salads. There’s also a new oatmeal bar with many tasty toppings to choose from daily. The dining staff are very friendly and always listen to student feedback and do their best to serve all.
