UCSC tends to offer a vegan option at every meal, however, there are usually very limited vegan options during transitional periods from lunch to dinner. Also, some dining halls have more vegan options as others such as vegan salad dressing, Tofurkey, vegan cheese, and vegan yogurt. In addition to these critiques, there is rarely a vegan dessert offered! Overall, though, UCSC does a good job of making sure that it is easy enough to be vegan on campus

I am a first year and have been vegan for more than 2 years now. I’m pretty happy with the choices at the dining halls – they always have at least one vegan meal option and quite often even a vegan dessert. On this site, it claims that we don’t participate in meatless mondays – we DO, and everyone (besides the vegans and vegetarians) complains about missing their “protein” LOL

They do have Meatless Mondays now. It’s called “Healthy Mondays” and rotates through the 5 dining halls each week. The cafes on campus have pretty great vegan food (better than the dining halls in my opinion). But they do offer lots of non-dairy milks and yogurts and always have vegan options. They’re for the most part pretty good but repetitive and get boring fast if you eat at the dining hall a lot.

The school actually does have “Meatless Mondays” however they are called “Healthy Mondays”. Healthy Monday cycles through the five dining halls every week. All the dining halls have all-vegan stations as well.

I have eaten there with my children when I visit them as they receive a few guest passes every quarter. The selections are delicious and I have no problems getting enough nutritious Vegan food to eat. One of my daughters is Vegan and the other one will eat meat occasionally but is, for the most part, vegetarian because there is such a big selection of plant based foods at UCSC! I think College 9/10 serves the best Vegan food but Crown is wonderfull also! I’ve eaten at both facilities.

Most of the time Vegan option are not labeled. I have found incorrect labeling. The vegan food is mostly sub-par and almost no effort has been put into it.
