I’ve lost quite a bit of weight, there are no vegan desserts, and very few vegan meals at that. I’ve been living off of salad, rice and tofu for the entire time. The weekends are especially brutal because they serve non-vegan breakfast foods until 3 in the afternoon, so I sometimes have to go around 18 hours without eating. I’ve been eating the same meal two times a day for months now and am tired of it. That being said, there are other dining halls that are supposedly better, but whenever I went there they had no vegan options either, though I went at less than optimal times. If you are a vegan, you should definitely think twice about coming here.

Going to college as a vegetarian was something I was very worried about. Luckily stony brook is extremely veg friendly. They have all vegetarian stations at two of their dining halls and at least one vegetarian option at every place. They label vegetarian/vegan stuff and even have veggie burgers at the BBQ joint and vegan chicken at the salad bars. They do offer soy milk ands fruit as to go options for us also. They campus has a free dietician who runs a vegan and vegetarian task force which I was impressed by. They also recognize and celebrate vegetarian awarness month. I find it easy and convientient to eat as a healthy vegetarian at this campus! FYI the picture there is bibimbap with tofu from the wang center.

The school has some vegan options but they are overpriced, often times not that healthy and usually not tasty. the school also hasn’t posted ingredients to dishes on the menus and that seems like a major problem.
