The campus dietician doesn’t know what they are doing, the rooted station is NOT all vegan; occasionally it’s not even all vegetarian. Both cafeterias have a fruit and salad bar, soy milk, and juice. There has only been 6 days with vegan dessert: 2 cookies, 2 bread that tastes like cinnamon rolls, and 2 granola bar during breakfast. It’s also hard to get my daily protein as someone who lives on campus and doesn’t have a kitchen. I’d say the only pro of being vegan here is that you don’t have to worry about food poisoning. My friends have gotten sick from the nonvegan stuff every other week. Only the rooted, homestyle, and delicious without stations serve vegan food. So that’s 10-12 spots for vegan options but there’s usually only 4-8 vegan options at each meal. The menu doesn’t show menu changes either so you don’t know if something has been changed until you get there.

The student center cafeteria is my mortal enemy. Half of the times I went there they had gotten rid of some of the vegan options so the only options were something like sauteed kale and steamed carrots. They do have a black bean burger you can order but I don’t like talking to people so I haven’t gotten it.

They are pretty good about sticking to the menu that’s listed on dineoncampus.com. They don’t know how to cook rice though; every few weeks it’s nearly rock hard. They usually have at least 6 options and only change something from the menu once a week or so. The black bean burger here is just vegetarian. They also serve a few things that could easily be vegan, like noodles (no sauce) or veggies with parmesan cheese on top. This can be annoying when they serve them during the meals with only 3 vegan options.

I would like to change my review from what I previously said. They’ve made several changes that I’m very disappointed with. Instead of Meatless Mondays, they now do “less meat Mondays” due to popular demand (ugh), and there is absolutely NO difference between what they serve on Mondays and the rest of the week! But in general, the food is not very good, whether your veg or not. If you’re vegan, your options are very, very limited. There’s almost always a vegetarian soup option that’s usually vegan, but be careful because they are bad about labeling the food. EC has a pasta bar and the SC has an awesome salad bar, and they do have Silk, but very few other options for vegans. The veggie option at the comfort station is disgusting, never get it. The food court has sushi bar with veggie sushi and you can get a veggie sandwich at Which Wich. If you want a school with a great education department and wonderful professors, go to SFA. If you want a school with good vegan options, you’re better off at UNT.

We actually do a lot of stuff that the checklist over to the side says we don’t. It’s a very veg-friendly campus overall. All vegetarian and vegan items are labeled, we have soy milk, and we even participate in Meatless Mondays! They use Mondays to promote their veg options. We have veggie burgers, a salad bar, pasta bar, vegan soup at every meal and the comfort station always has vegan entrees and sides. And we’ve got desserts! There’s even a free campus dietician that helps people with dietary restrictions find stuff they can eat. So yeah, it’s great 🙂

Well the campus cafeteria actually does a lot of the stuff that the checklist says it doesn’t. All foods that are vegetarian and vegan are labeled. And they DO participate in Meatless Mondays! 🙂 The salad bar is very good, they have lots of pastas and soups that are vegan, plus yummy fresh fruits 🙂 The food could be better in general (even the meat-eaters say the food isn’t great), but I’m satisfied with the selections 🙂
