While there are some vegan options available on campus, they are few and far between. Not to mention, certain dining facilities carry strange or inconvenient hours, which makes it difficult to access vegan options. Vegan snack foods are available (mostly “accidentally vegan”), but there is not much effort to provide protein sources to vegans on campus. One thing that is particularly frustrating is that many of the pre-made salads that get sold on campus have meat on them. Also, there used to be a made-to-order vegetarian sandwich place, which was very easy to get vegan sandwiches at by omitting certain toppings; however, they have now unfortunately switched over to selling only pre-made sandwiches, which further limits the already meager vegan offerings on campus. In the buffet style dining hall, the menu items are often not labelled, and so you have to rely on asking the employees whether or not something is veg friendly, which is unsettling because I have had them give me wrong information on multiple occasions. Overall, I am very dissatisfied with the availability of vegan and vegetarian foods on campus.
