I had a terrible time finding vegan options at this school. The workers half the time had no idea what vegan meant and would not go ask the chef about a dish to find out if It was vegan.. very frustrating. There is a nice salad bar available. The dressings are not labeled if they are vegan or not. There are never vegan deserts. There is NO vegan coffee creamer on campus. I had to write numerous letters just to get fruit in our coffee shop.. Very difficult being vegan on this campus. I have also found bacon at least twice in my food I almost vomited on sight, I wrote letters to the chefs and was never given a response back.

Aurora University (Aurora campus) is one of the worst places in the world to eat at if you’re vegan. I have been a student for two years, one of which I was vegan (first year only vegetarian), and have had a meal plan for both. They have three dining locations and NONE of them have vegan options (notice how there is no image of vegan food for me to upload). Even vegetarian options are scarce to none. I have gone to every single dietary needs committee meeting, met with the president of Sodexo (food service at AU) and president and vice president of Residence Life several times, and even talked with the President of Aurora University. I have been lied to, laughed at, and cheated out of my money. Food items are never labeled correctly (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, etc.), ingredients listed are not accurate, Sodexo staff members are completely uneducated about what vegan is, several chefs in the cafeteria cannot name a single food with protein (I spoke with them personally), and not a single person at AU can grasp the concept of cross contamination. I fought for two years to try and make Aurora University vegan and even vegetarian friendly and unfortunately, I had to give up because I could not stand the thought of these people taking another penny of my money. This is not an exaggeration, it’s a disgrace. If you have any kind of dietary restriction or food allergy Aurora University is your worst nightmare. These people do not deserve your hard earned money. Even if you’re not vegan, you should know that the staff at Aurora University (except the teachers) and Sodexo are conniving and unethical.
