University of Nevada, Reno is constantly mislabeling food as vegan. It is my first year on campus and already in the first 3 weeks, I’ve encountered this 6 times. This is in the DC. I ate a couple of bites of these potatoes labeled vegan and I realized they had cheese. I was sick to my stomach. One of the managers said it was ultimately my fault for eating them because I should have known they weren’t vegan. Ridiculous. I’ve never encountered such terrible vegan options and unwilling to help staff.

Every Friday, a completely vegan food bus takes over for what normally is a hot dog food bus near the dorms. We also now have Great Full Gardens on campus which offers many vegan and vegetarian options to the students and faculty.
Our school does offer nondairy milk, labels vegan desserts, and offers an all-vegan station on Fridays. So the information on this website needs to be updated.

Hey Wolf Pack! There are a lot of veg and vegan options on campus if you know where to look for them. In the Overlook some foods and meals can be made vegan upon request. There is a salad bar that allows you to make some veggie combinations to top with hummus or guac, a sandwich bar were you can create a veg sandwich, some fruit and veggie cups (tip: get the carrot, celery, jicama cup and then go to the sandwich stand and ask for a side of hummus or guac. You can also go to the starbucks and smoothie stand and ask for a side of peanut butter. They will usually charge for the sides though, so heads up), and some chips and misc. snacks that are accidently vegan. Also there is a Chinese food stand (I don’t trust this one to be veg, sorry) but right next to it they have Vegetarian pho. I don’t know if it’s vegan but you can ask for the veggie broth (very important step!) and tofu to go with your noodles. Then ask for extra cilantro, onions, and jalapenos, and it’s pretty awesome. Check the Siracha on the condiment stand because some Siracha has anchovy oil…. but others are so deliciously accidently vegan 🙂

There are some veg options in the Student Center as well. At Port of Subs you can get a veggie sandwich (hold the mountain of cheese!) and ask for guac with tons of veggies. Next to Port of Subs there’s an Italian stand that can and will make vegetarian lasagna every now and then. They also have salad and I got kale chips there once. Also starbucks has some raw food granola bars and other goodies as well as soy milk for their drinks. You can also go to the Jamba Juice next door and they can make some fruit smoothies without the yogurt.

Bytes has a veggie sandwich (has cheese….but I would just ask if they can make one without it) and used to have this mushroom sandwich that was AMAZING, just ask to hold the cheese for a vegan option. The veggie and fruit cups can be found here as well.

I’ve never made my way up to Elements but I’ve heard they are really veg friendly. Just look out for cream in soups and ask to hold the cheese in sandwiches. Hummus and guac are your friends.

Pretty much all the stores will have snacks like chips, nuts, dried fruit, cookies, and other stuffs that are accidentally vegan. You just need to look at the label. There are a few other places I haven’t been to but I’m sure they can accommodate vegans. JUST ASK! The most important thing is to tell them you want veg options. This lets them know there’s a demand and with enough demand they will offer more in the future. Happy eating!
