    Has a vegetarian / vegan station in the dining hall, and Passport cafe offers weekly vegetarian & vegan specials including this jerk tofu over rice

    They do have non-dairy milk, but only flavored vanilla or chocolate soy–appropriately hiding next to the soft serve dispenser instead of by the drinks. They always have options–you just have to stretch your creativity at the salad bar combining it with the ever present vegan staples of rice, pasta and accidentally animal-free condiments. The cafeteria microwave and spice stations are your new best friends.

    They do a great job labelling stuff (VG), but outside of the dining hall it’s hard to find options–you have to hack menus to create your own. The International cafe, Passport, sometimes has vegan specials.

    They have a vegetarian station–and there is almost always one vegan thing there, even if it’s just steamed carrots.

    You can submit a recipe to the dining hall, and they’ll consider it, and might choose to make and serve it which is a cool program.

    The good news is that Richmond itself is a really veg-friendly city, and so is Carytown.

    UR has choices that are clearly marked (A green VG for vegan), and have non-dairy milk. If you talk to a nutritionist, they’ll make sure you have something to eat and are very accommodating.
