I am the peta2 rep for Georgia Tech for 2018! We do have non-dairy milk in all dining halls, label vegan desserts (a campaign I worked on this semester) and promote vegan options in the dining halls! The promotion includes statistics on napkin holders that say the benefits of eating vegan and also an entire guide to eating vegan in dining halls! We also have a ‘Simple Serving’ station that is mostly plant based and has no allergens (like dairy or eggs) but serves meat entrees along with the vegan entrees.

Georgia Tech’s dining halls when I was a freshman were deplete of vegan options (2012-2013). You were pretty much stuck with a green salad everyday and maybe spaghetti if there wasn’t cheese in the marinara sauce. In the food court only some locations label their vegan options (mainly the indian place: Cafe Spice and the salad bar). Georgia Tech does nothing to promote vegan (or even vegetarian) options and as far as I know, they don’t receive input from students on vegan options. There’s a lot of improvement to be made here! Hopefully GT Veggie Jackets can help 🙂

Overall, Georgia Tech is not a good school for vegans. Meat is served every day and every station has meat. Often times, the vegan items on the menu are not even present in the dining hall since the managers believes nobody eats those items. The vegan labeling is ridiculous as there have been instances where something was labeled Vegan and a closer reading of the ingredients list showed honey, milk, and cheese being present in the item. The non-dairy milk section is always empty and is only replensihed every other day so if you are coming to this school, you have to buy your own milk. Overall, I believe PETA should reevaluate its ranking of Georgia Tech
